Wyman Taylor came from Sumter and was a four year lettermen in football and baseball. He was captain of both teams his senior year. In football he was considered a triple threat, because he was quarterback and also handled the kick-off responsibilities. He missed only three extra points in his football career. He was chosen for the All-Conference team in his senior year. In baseball in his junior year he led the conference in batting average, stolen bases, runs scored, and number of hits. He received the Laval Award as the Outstanding Senior Athlete.
