Ben Lown made his mark on the Newberry golf program with one of the most successful careers in the school's history. Lown joined the Wolves as a freshman in the 2007-08 season and immediately made an impact, being named the SAC Freshman of the Year in 2008 as well as earning a first team All-SAC selection and a GCAA All-America Honorable mention. He secured another first team All-SAC selection in 2009.
Â
A North Augusta native, Lown has the second most top-10 finishes in the program's history (18), as well as tying for the most top-five finishes (13). Lown also boasts the fifth-lowest stroke average in the program's history (73.8) through his 104 career rounds and the fifth-best season stroke average (72.4), which he accomplished in the 2007-08 season.
Â
Lown claimed three individual tournament championships in his career, most notably the 2008 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament, held in Hickory, N.C., as a freshman. His 54-hole score of 208 was the lowest in South Atlantic Conference tournament history at the time, earning him the tournament's Most Valuable Player award and leading Newberry men's golf to its first-ever SAC title.
