Newberry College Athletics

Herbert, from Orangeburg, S.C. played tackle. In 1938, he played opposite of fellow inductee Schoefield. He played offense and defense. Herbert won praise from his teammates by the way he handled bigger opponents. He also participated in track and performed in the field events. Herbert was a loyal Newberry supporter to his death in 1976.
