Samantha Parrish, a native of Angola, Ind., helped Newberry became the first school from the state of South Carolina to win a match in the NCAA Division II volleyball tournament in 2012 with a first-round victory over Flagler. At the time of her induction, she was the career record holder for most career kills (1,572) and points (1,836) and led the Wolves to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances in 2011, 2012, and 2013. She holds four of the top 10 spots in the program's single season kills records including first (473), fifth (389), eighth (382) and 10th (328). She also ranks third in career digs (1,686), 5th in most digs in a single season (507), 9th in career total blocks (217), 7th in career solo blocks (51) and 9th in career block assists (166). Parrish was named a second team Academic All-America by the College Sports Information Directors of America and Capital One in 2013. She was a three-time, second team All-SAC selection as a freshman (2010), junior (2012), and senior (2013) and was named to the SAC all-freshman team.
