Newberry College Athletics

Bucko was a Sumter native, who came to Newberry in 1941. He than began his illustrious football career. After two outstanding seasons as a guard, he joined the U.S. Army during WWII. When he returned, he picked up right where he left off and was named Co-Captain his senior year. In 1946, he was named to the All-State and All-Little Four Team. He was named to the Honorable Mention Little All American team. He would be remembered as one of the best.
