Newberry College Athletics

The fleet halfback from Greenville was one of the students whose education was put on hold because of Military Services in 1941. He returned after four years of service to play football and graduate.

He was leading ground gainer and was selected Second Team All-State. According to Coach Laval he could “hit the hole quicker than any player he ever coached.” He is a charter member of the Newberry College Indian and Letterman club. Charley still follows the Indians and has enjoyed every moment of being apart of their history.
