Newberry College Athletics

Bill came to Newberry in 1956 from Orangeburg, SC. He was an outstanding baseball player and earned four letters. In 1958 and 1959 he was selected to the All-Little Four and All-State teams. In those years he was team leader in homeruns, RBI’s, and extra base hits. He attracted national attention by being in the top ten in several NAIA statistics. Bill was captain his senior year and signed a bonus contract with the Kansas City Athletics.
