Newberry College Athletics

Red arrived at Newberry in 1936 from Swansea, SC. He lettered in football and baseball all four years. Red’s college reputation allowed him to play and manage in the Old Palmetto & Eastern Carolina baseball league for several years. In 1952, after 11 years of high school coaching, he returned to Newberry. Red was a coach, teacher, and an administrator. His contributions helped make our athletic program the best small college program in the country.
