Newberry College Athletics

Jacques came to Newberry College from Joanna in 1978. In his first season he was the recipient of the Billy Douglass as the Freshman Baseball Player of the Year. In 1978, he named All District, All State, and led the nation with 38 consecutive stolen bases and batted .366. As a sophomore, he tied the record for consecutive steals with 44 and was  named All District & All State and batted .411. He batted .375 and again was named All District & All State following his junior season. As a senior he batted .335 and finished his career with over 120 stolen bases and an overall batting average of .372.
