Newberry College Athletics

Harvey played football and baseball all four of his years at Newberry College. He coached at three South Carolina High Schools before returning to be head football coach at Newberry College in 1952. Harvey coached for fifteen seasons and was chosen as South Carolina Coach of the Year in 1953 and in 1962. He was Carolinas Conference Coach of the Year in 1966. Harvey’s team played in two bowl games in 1954 and in 1959. His team also won the team conference sportsmanship trophy in 1965 and in 1967.
