Newberry College Athletics

A three-time All-District honoree on the Newberry College football team, Charlie Upchurch was twice named an All-American honorable mention, one in each of his final two playing seasons. His first came to Newberry in 1976, and was named to the Lutheran All-American list before being named an NAIA All-American in 1977. He twice earned all-conference honors, having been named to the second-team in 1975 before turning in a first-team performance in 1977.
