Newberry College Athletics

Harry is a native of Summerville, S.C. He played end position both ways and was honored by his steady and consistent play at both positions. His senior year his was the captain of the 1942 football and he was also the student body president. He set a high standard for student athletes as a campus leader.

His most important legacy to Newberry College was that he attained the rank of captain when he served in WWII. He graduated from the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia in 1956. He returned to Newberry as a chaplain and professor of religion for 20 years. He also served as dean of students for three years. He currently resides in Newberry and is still a loyal supporter of the college.
