Newberry College Athletics

Charles came from Elizabeth, NJ. He was an outstanding basketball player and lettered four years.

In 1958, 1959, & 1960, he was named to the All-Little Four Tourney, All-Conference, All-NAIA District 26, and All-State teams. In 1958, he was Conference Player of the Year and in 1960 was named to Who’s Who in Small College basketball. He averaged 18 pts a game and had over 1,700 career total pts. He chose high school coaching over a professional career.
