Newberry College Athletics

Cliff came to Newberry from Gold Hill, North Carolina. The all-around man on campus quickly became the all-around athlete. He earned four letters each in basketball, football, and baseball. Cliff was captain of the freshman basketball team. In 1937, he was co-captain of the football team, alternate captain of the basketball team, All-State baseball, Honorable All-State football, and Best Male Athlete at Newberry.
