Michelle Baker would join the Newberry Women’s Soccer program in the 1996 season as a midfielder/forward from J.L. Mann High School in Greenville, S.C. Baker-Kish would make an impact on the Woman’s Soccer record books right away as a freshman as she is currently number two with 70 shots in the 1996 season. As a member of the Newberry women’s soccer program, Baker-Kish would become the all-time leader in career goals scored with 43 total goals. Baker-Kish has a share of the record for most goals in a game with four goals scored. In her senior season, Baker-Kish would become a second team all-SAC selection as she had 12 goals and two assists, totaling 26 points on the season. Baker-Kish is currently number two in the career point list, as she is one of two Newberry women’s soccer players to reach the 100-career point plateau in her four-year tenure. Baker-Kish would also play and start in 71 games in those four years at Newberry. In 1999, Baker-Kish would graduate from Newberry College with a 3.813 GPA majoring in Sports Management. While at Newberry College, Baker-Kish was a member of the PE Majors Club, the S.C. Allegiance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, she was an active member of Kappa Delta Phi, and she participated in the Lunch Pal program along with the “elementary” after school reading program.
