Hall of Fame
Jimmy came to Newberry from Sumter, SC in 1958. He quickly made himself known in athletics by earning letters in football and baseball in his freshman year. He won varsity letters in both sports in 1959, 1960, & 1961. In both 1960 & 1961, he was named to the Little All-American team. Being named twice to this team places Jimmy in a very select group. In his senior year, he was named Most Valuable Back on his team and to the All-Little Three team. He also performed well on the baseball team, because his speed made him a constant threat on the bases. For his all around athletic ability and his outstanding performance as a running back, Jimmy will always be remembered as an all time great.
