Newberry College Athletics

R. Nelson was a three year letter winner. He played 1940-1942. He then entered the armed forces and served our country during WWII. He returned in 1946 to complete his career at Newberry. He was co-captain his senior year and was on All-State team at tackle. He received Second Team Little All-American Honors. He is a close friend of inductee Herbert Lee Nelson. Schoefield continues to support Newberry College athletic programs with the R.Nelson Schoefield endowed scholarship.
