Newberry College Athletics

Don is a Orangeburg native and he played for Edisto High where he lettered 18 times for various sports. He was a walk-on his freshman year and became one of the top rushers in Newberry College history. Don holds four records; longest rushing TD for 90 yards, most rushes in a career with 638, most rushing yards in a season 1,219, and most rushing average for the season with 110 yards. He made All-State in 1970 and 1971. He was awarded All-Conference and Lutheran All-American honors during his career. A Who’s Who his senior year, Don married Becky Burns and now owns an insurance agency in Orangeburg.
