Bobby is from Whitmire, S.C. He was instrumental in the Indians' success on the hardwood during the late 1970s.

He was team captain in 1976-78. He was honored by on the All-NAIA District 6 team. He made first team Little College All-American. During his years on the court he was selected in the Little Four All-Tourney team three times. Bobby was a perennial All-State selection in the South Carolina small college ranks. He is the third leading scorer in Newberry College history with 1713 points along with being voted outstanding rebounder.

Bobby's talents and perseverance earned him the honor of lettering all four years. The Indian win-loss record was 112-28. Bobby’s jersey No. 40 was retired by the school on May 8, 1978, and now hangs in Eleazer Arena.
