Wolves Drop Match To Anderson

Box Score ANDERSON, S.C. - Men's tennis comes home with a tough loss to Anderson, 2-5.

Doubles gave a glimpse of hope to start the day off as the Wolves claimed one win and a very narrow loss. Court one featuring David Negzaoui and Joshua Fritz got the job done, winning their doubles match 6-3. A shootout on court two led to a heart breaking loss for James Vincent and Noel Bartz. Going back and fourth the entirety of the match, the duo lost 4-6.

The Wolves fought hard against the Trojans in singles, seeing two wins and a near tie breaker loss. Going 2-2 on the day, Negzaoui earned the Wolves their first point with an easy two set match. Negzaoui finished the first set 6-2 then the second 6-3. Bartz claimed the second point for Newberry with a three set match. The first two sets could not have been any closer for either side. Winning the first set 7-6 , Bartz dropped the second 6-7 sending the match to three. Emptying the Trojans tank, Bartz breezed by his opponent, 6-1 to finish off the day with a win.

Thilo Lorenz and Joshua Fritz gave incredible effort in their matches, nearly sending the Wolves home with a win. Fritz played a 4-6 first set followed by a 5-7 second, handing the win to Anderson. After losing the first set, Lorenz cleaned things up and won the second set 6-2 sending the match to a tie breaker. Unfortunately for Lorenz, he could not keep pace with the Trojan and lost 7-10.

The Wolves will be back home on Saturday, April 6 at 1 P.M. against the Cavaliers of UVA Wise.
