Wolves Fall to Eagles 4-1 After Doubles Point

Box Score

JEFFERSON CITY, TN - The Newberry Wolves opened strong in doubles play, but Carson-Newman surged through singles competition to hand the Wolves a 4-1 loss on the road.

Newberry found early momentum by claiming the doubles point with wins on Courts No. 3 and No. 1. Senthen Reddy and Sohei Kamiyama set the tone with a 6-4 victory at No. 3, before Daniel Watson and Lucas Mruk secured the point with a 6-4 win on Court No. 1.

Holding a 1-0 lead entering singles, the Wolves were unable to maintain that advantage as Carson-Newman captured four consecutive singles matches to clinch the team victory.

At No. 2 singles, Reddy battled in a competitive match but fell in straight sets, 4-6, 4-6. Maxime Dierickx also fought hard on Court No. 3, dropping a tightly contested match, 4-6, 5-7. Noel Bartz continued the effort at No. 4, pushing his opponent in the opening set before falling 5-7, 3-6.

Two matches remained unfinished at the time of the decision. Watson rebounded after dropping the first set at No. 1 to take the second 6-1 before play was halted, while Kamiyama was locked in a back-and-forth battle at No. 6, with the match tied late in the third set at 5-5.

This concludes the Newberry Men's tennis 2025-2026 season.
