Wolves Secure a Win Versus Queens

Second Game Explosion for Wolves Highlights Afternoon Bout with Queens

CHARLOTTE, N.C.  – The Women's Rugby team made the short trip to Charlotte, N.C., for their afternoon matchup against Queens University of Charlotte in a three game bout. The Wolves would be looking to secure victories in all three matches as the Wolves have both won and dropped a game in their previous matches, putting their record at 2-2.

GAME 1: Royals 17, Wolves 7
The Wolves were not able to get much going offensively, as they would only be able to score one try in the game from freshman Anna Howell (Boise, Idaho). A conversion from freshman Dantzler Long (Newberry, S.C.) would add on to the tally, but that would be all the scoring from the Wolves as the Royals would defeat Newberry College in the first game.

GAME 2: Wolves 22, Royals 12
The disappointment of the defeat from the previous game lit a fire for the Wolves in the second game as they would come out hot and defeat the Royals by a score of 22-12. Multiple Wolves got in on the scoring in this game as sophomore Dasha Timms (Anderson, S.C.), junior Taqwai Seburn (Warner Robins, Ga.), freshman Savannah Armistead (McClellanville, S.C.) and Howell would all score tries in the match. A conversion by Long would also tack on two points for the Wolves to secure the win.

GAME 3: Royals 21, Wolves 7
The Wolves looked to win the series against the Royals as they faced them in the third match of the day, but it would not come to fruition as Queens would prove to be too much for Newberry in this game. A try and conversion from Long would be all the scoring done for Newberry as they would come away short in this game, securing the series win for the Royals.

The Wolves will look to turn things around next weekend as they will be at home for their first home matchup against Lander University, with the first game scheduled to kick off at 11 AM.
