Newberry Set to Open SAC Play Against Queens

NEWBERRY – Newberry men's basketball will open South Atlantic Conference play Tuesday night against Queens University of Charlotte. The Wolves are coming off a 2-0 weekend at the Newberry Invitational.

NEWBERRY STORYLINES

Newberry went 2-0 in the Newberry Invitational after victories over Paine and Southern Wesleyan.

The Wolves will open South Atlantic Conference play against Queens after a 3-1 start.

Musah Sackor currently leads the SAC in field goal percentage, shooting 77.8 percent from the floor. Newberry leads the SAC with 104.8 points per game and 14.3 made three pointers per contest.

 

QUEENS STORYLINES

Queens is 4-0 this season and notched a 75-73 exhibition victory over VCU on November 4.

Daniel Camps is leading the Royals with 19.0 points per game. Todd Withers is averaging 17.0 points per game and won the first South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week award this season.

Queens was picked second in the SAC preseason poll after finishing the 2015-16 season with a 25-7 record.

 

NOTES

Musah Sackor earned his first career Player of the Week plaudit from the South Atlantic Conference for the week of November 14-20. Sackor averaged 25.0 points per game including a career-high 34 points against Southern Wesleyan.
