NEWBERRY, S.C. – Facing a nationally ranked opponent, the Newberry College men's basketball team put together a competitive effort but ultimately fell to No. 14 Anderson in a South Atlantic Conference matchup at Eleazer Arena (87-63). The Wolves continued to show efficiency and balance on the offensive end, highlighted by strong shooting, ball movement, and depth across the lineup.
Newberry was sharp at the free-throw line, finishing 17-of-18 (94.4%), and shared the ball effectively with 21 assists as a team. Kayzzin McDowell led the Wolves with 13 points, while Drake Downs contributed 12 points and six rebounds. Malakhi Stremlow added a strong all-around performance with 10 points and eight rebounds, and Drew Robinson chipped in nine points. The Wolves' bench provided a spark, combining for 21 points and maintaining offensive rhythm throughout the contest.
Defensively, Newberry remained active, recording nine steals and creating transition opportunities against the 14th-ranked Trojans. While Anderson secured the win, Newberry's execution, depth, and competitiveness against a top-15 opponent reflected continued growth. The Wolves now stand at 5–5 overall and 2–4 in SAC play and their next game will be the Bahama House Shootout in Florida on December 19–20.
