NEWBERRY - The Tusculum Pioneers proved too much for the Newberry men's tennis team as the Wolves fell 7-2 at Newberry High School on Sunday afternoon.
Tusculum (10-3, 3-1 SAC) controlled the match from the start of doubles play, as the Pioneers took all three doubles points from the Wolves (8-7, 5-3 SAC).
Singles play did not see the Wolves fare much better, with only two points being earned for the team in solo action.
Senior Vinicius Botelho (Fortaleza, Brazil) handed Nicolas Planchard his first loss of the season in straight sets at No. 2 singles.
It was a court over at No. 3 singles, where sophomore Fernando Espana (Madrid, Spain) took a three-set victory over Jonas Winkelmann.
The Wolves host the Coker Cobras on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in South Atlantic Conference action.
