Newberry College Acrobatics & Tumbling Falls to Coker University in Home Opener

NEWBERRY, SC - The Newberry College Acrobatics & Tumbling team opened its home slate Saturday afternoon, falling to Coker University, 201.23-159.22, inside a spirited environment in front of 63 fans.

The Wolves battled throughout the meet but were unable to overcome a strong and consistent performance from the Cobras, who pulled away in the second half behind a high scoring Team Event.

Compulsory Action

Newberry opened the day in the Compulsory event, posting a 21.35. The Wolves turned in their strongest score of the four heats in the Pyramid (8.85), showing stability and confidence in their structures. Coker edged the session with a 33.20 total to take an early advantage.

Acro & Pyramid Events

In the Acro event, Newberry tallied a 21.80. The Wolves' top mark came in the five-element heat with a 7.55, highlighting clean lines and improved synchronization.

The Pyramid event proved to be one of Newberry's steadier rotations, as the Wolves combined for a 23.30. Their best performance came in the Open Heat, earning an 8.65 and showcasing creativity and solid execution.

Toss & Tumbling

Newberry recorded a 21.10 in the Toss event, led by a 7.60 in the Synchronized Heat. The team showed resilience and sharper timing as the event progressed.

In Tumbling, the Wolves scored a 27.95, with strong efforts in the Aerial Pass (7.725) and Open Pass (7.425). The Trio Pass also added a 6.45 to the total. Despite competitive individual passes, Coker's depth in the event helped widen the margin.

Team Event

The Cobras sealed the meet in the Team Event, outscoring Newberry 75.02–43.72. The Wolves continued to fight through the final routine, demonstrating determination and composure despite the deficit. 

The Wolves will look to build on this performance on March 11th as they go up against Converse University and Mars Hill University in Eleazer Arena.
