Hartsville, SC - The Newberry men's tennis squad showcased depth and grit throughout the Coker Invitational, posting strong singles and doubles performances across all flights.
In Flight A singles, Martin Posada advanced with a convincing opening-round victory before falling in the semifinals. Teammate Daniel Watson also notched a first-round win and pushed his second match to a competitive finish. Flight B featured a clutch effort from Senthen Reddy, who edged his opening opponent 6-2, 4-6, 10-8, while Sohei Kamiyama earned a solid first-round triumph before dropping a tight second-round match.
The Wolves showed resilience in the lower flights as well. Noel Bartz rallied for a three-set win in Flight C, and Lucas Murk opened with a strong performance. In Flight D, Evan Phillips battled through a gritty match before retiring, and Ian Rabtsevich fought hard against a tough opening draw.
Newberry also made noise in doubles play. Bartz and Posada combined for a 6-4 opening-round victory in Men's C Doubles, while Rabtsevich and Phillips competed in Men's D Doubles, giving the Wolves valuable experience and momentum heading into the rest of the fall season.
The Wolves look to build off this performance and will return to the courts on September 26th for the ITA Southeast Regional.
