Wolves Dominate North Greenville: Women's Tennis Sweeps 7-0, Men Triumph 5-2

The Newberry Wolves men's and women's tennis teams dominated their matchups against North Greenville, with the women securing a perfect 7-0 sweep and the men earning a strong 5-2 victory.

Women's Tennis: Newberry 7, North Greenville 0

The Wolves women started strong by claiming victory in two of three doubles matches. Emma Arnal and Renee Dorval teamed up to defeat M. McKenzie and A. Watson 6-3, while Lina Sarhan and Hazel Vernon cruised past M. Carius and A. Chapman 6-1. Although Alexa Gamborino-Surez and Margarita Roska fell to L. Chisholm and D. Koutsofta (2-6), Newberry claimed the doubles point.

In singles action, Newberry dominated across the board. Arnal took down M. Carius 6-2, 6-1, while Sarhan followed with a solid 6-3, 6-2 win over L. Chisholm. Margarita Roshka battled through a tiebreaker in her first set before clinching a 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 6-3 victory against A. Watson. Gamborino-Surez delivered a 6-1, 6-3 win over D. Koutsofta, and Aine Miralles rolled past M. McKenzie 6-1, 6-0. Renee Dorval capped off the perfect team performance with an 8-0 triumph over R. Sunter.

Men's Tennis: Newberry 5, North Greenville 2

The men's team opened doubles play with a key win from James Vincent and Daniel Watson, who took down J. Arbelaez and C. Timini 6-2. Despite losses by Senten Reddy and Lucas Mruk (4-6) and Joshua Fritz and Noel Bartz (4-6), the Wolves regrouped in singles to secure the victory.

Vincent continued his impressive play with a dominant 6-2, 6-2 win over Jm Kantola. Watson delivered a gritty comeback victory, defeating C. Timini 2-6, 6-3, 7-5. Fritz controlled his match against G. Regoraro with a commanding 6-0, 6-1 performance, while Gabriel Fernandez-Iglesias claimed a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 win over J. Arbelaez. Mruk rounded out the singles victories with a strong 7-5, 6-0 win over D. Kingsley. Reddy's 4-6, 0-6 loss to W. Hernandez marked the Wolves' only singles defeat.

Both teams will be at home again on March 22nd to battle it out against Lenoir-Rhyne University with the women starting at 11am and the men starting at 1:30pm.
