GREENWOOD, SC - The Newberry College men's tennis team went up against Lander University but ultimately fell 5-2.
The Wolves came out strong in doubles play, securing the doubles point with impressive performances. The duo of James Vincent and Daniel Watson set the tone with a 6-4 victory, followed by a clutch win from David Negzaoui and Joshua Fritz, who edged out their opponents 7-5 to give Newberry the early lead.
In singles action, Watson continued his stellar play, battling to a 7-5, 7-5 straight-set victory. Negzaoui fought through a thrilling back-and-forth contest, taking the second set to force a decisive third, but ultimately fell short in a 6-2, 2-6, 5-7 marathon.
The Wolves will be on the road next on March 1st against Emory & Henry at 1:30pm.Â
