JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The Newberry women's golf team completed the opening round of the 2025 Coastal Georgia Women's Winter Invitational on Tuesday, positioning themselves for a competitive final round at Jekyll Island Golf Club.
Leading the way for the Wolves was Blanca Noriega Villar, who delivered a strong performance across the course. Blanca Noriega Villar also contributed to Newberry's impressive one eagle, the best mark among all competing teams.
As a team, Newberry ranked seventh in Par 3 scoring (3.60, +12) and seventh in Par 4 scoring (4.46, +23). The Wolves also posted a 5.80 (+16) average on Par 5s, tying for eighth place.
Individually, Ashton Moseley and Blanca Noriega Villar each recorded a birdie, helping Newberry total three birdies, good for seventh in the field. The Wolves also collected 43 pars, finishing the day in seventh place for that category.
