PREVIEW: Wolves Face Off Against The Cavaliers

NEWBERRY, S.C. - Mens tennis (4-11, 3-6 SAC) hosts the UVA Wise Cavaliers (12-6, 2-6 SAC) at 1 P.M.

SCOUTING THE WOLVES
  • Newberry is currently on a five game losing streak, after having multiple close matches against the Trojans.
  • The Wolves are tied for eighth in the conference with Anderson. In order to make the conference tournament Newberry must win out and get some help from other teams.
  •  James Vincent and Noel Bartz are the only Wolves to have a winning record in conference singles. Thilo Lorenz and Lucas Mruk have the best doubles record for the Wolves at 3-4.
SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
  • The Cavaliers sit one game below the Wolves in the conference standings.
    • A win for UVA would all but spoil Newberry's post season plans.
  • Their two wins came against Mars Hill and Emory & Henry.
    • Newberry defeated both teams as well and out performed UVA in the Mars Hill match.
  • UVA Wise's best conference player, Yi-Hsuan Chen, sits on court one with a 5-3 record.
