NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Newberry tennis teams host their season home opener tomorrow, Feb. 8th, against the Francis Marion patriots. The first match will begin at 1 P.M. at the Oakland Tennis Center.

SCOUTING THE WOLVES

• The women's team started their season off right where they left it, defeating Conference Carolina(CC) favorite, Erskine, 5-2.
• The men's team showed a lot of promise in their matches against The Citadel and Lees-McRae.
  • Comprised of mainly freshman, the team managed to win a duo and singles match against Division 1 The Citadel.
  • The young squad then made light work of #7 CC Lees-McRae defeating them 5-1.

SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS

• Francis Marion's women's team was given the 4th seed in the CC preseason poll, sitting behind #1 Erskine, #2 Belmont Abbey and #3 Mount Olive.
  • The patriots are 0-2 on the season losing to nationally ranked #5 Saint Leo and #2 SAC Tusculum 1-6.
• The men's squad was selected to finish 2nd in the CC preseason poll, only sitting behind Belmont Abbey.
  • Their current record is 1-1, seeing their only loss from nationally ranked #3 Saint Leo, losing that match 0-4.
