Box Score 2 SUMTER, S.C. - Men's tennis goes 1-1 on the day against Lees-McRae and The Citadel.
In the first match of the day, the men faced the Division one, The Citadel. The duo of freshman
David Negzaoui and junior
Joshua Fritz defeated their opposition with an impressive score of 8-3. Sophomore transfer
James Vincent and freshman
Daniel Watson showed a lot of promise in their match, narrowly losing 6-8.
In singles play, freshman
Noel Bartz was the lone winner for the wolves after defeating his opponent with a back to back 6-4 performance. Both Fritz and Vincent had strong showings, forcing their opponents into three rounds only losing both their rounds in narrow margin.
Using their first match as fuel, the wolves only saw one loss in a dominant 5-1 win over Lees-McRae. No doubles matches were played for the two squads.
Bartz had the best showing for the wolves with his 6-2 and 6-0 play. Negzaoui and Fritz were both able to handle the bobcats with relative ease, defeating both of their opponents within two sets. Freshman
Thilo Lorenz claimed his first victory of the day in three sets followed swiftly by sophomore
Lucas Mruk also getting his first victory on the day, defeating his opponent in the same fashion.
The wolves will be back in action this upcoming Thursday, Feb. 8th with their home opener against Francis Marion at 1 P.M.
