Bartz Tie Breaker Win Sends The Wolves Home With A Win

Box Score MARS HILL, S.C. - Men's tennis starts conference play off with a 4-3 win over Mars Hill.

The calm before the storm came in doubles play where unfortunately only the duo of James Vincent and Noel Bartz (remember that name) emerged victorious with a 6-3 set score.

Courts one-three were run by the Wolves. Vincent stayed undefeated on the day, winning his first set 6-4 then 6-3 in the second. On court two David Negzaoui put on the performance for the men with a 6-2 first set along with a 6-3 second set. In one of two tiebreakers, Joshua Fritz claimed set one in a narrow 7-6 set. After dropping his second and going into a tiebreaker, Fritz took the win with 6-3.

Not only was this the match of the year for the Wolves but this also keeps Noel Bartz undefeated singles season (3-0) still alive. The final match of the afternoon started off with a narrow 6-7 loss in the first set for Bartz. Answering back in a strong way, Bartz claimed the second set 6-1. Setting a new school record for a combined set score with 26, Bartz sent the Wolves home after defeating his opponent 14-12.

The Wolves look to keep their conference record in tact as they take on Tusculum University at home this Wednesday, February 28th at 2 P.M.
