BALTIMORE – Following a dominant 22-6 win over Lynn on Saturday in the season opener, the Newberry College men's lacrosse team moved up to No. 9 in the Inside Lacrosse Division II Media Poll released today.
The Wolves, previously No. 10, scored 11 goals in the first quarter against the Fighting Knights over the weekend. Combined with their 18 assists throughout the game, Newberry set a new program record with 40 points.
Scott Reed's eight goals tied the program record, and his 12 points set a new school record.
Zach Thompson tallied seven assists for a new Newberry record and also added a goal.
Jimmy Osorio scored four times,
Baker Westmoreland three and
Mac Ryan, twice. Five other Wolves scored a goal in the win:
Connor Bates,
Adrian Channell,
Miles Jones,
Nathan Pouliot and
Zach Thompson.
Newberry returns to action this Saturday (Feb. 17) for another game away from home. Face-off against Mount Olive is scheduled for noon.
