ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Newberry College Men's Indoor Track and Field team was selected as the No. 8 team in the South Atlantic Conference's preseason coaches' poll released this afternoon (Dec. 4).
The Wolves earned 66 points in the poll, 14 points behind Tusculum in seventh and 14 points ahead of Emory & Henry in ninth.
Wingate led the poll with 11 first-place votes and 143 points, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne's two first-place votes and 133 points.
Carson-Newman (120), Catawba (106) and Limestone (102) completed the top-five.
Among the athletes to watch named in the release were Newberry's
Parker Pitts,
Kalyn Cook and Noel Asiedu. Pitts earned a silver medal in the weight throw at last year's SAC indoor championships. Asiedu had a tremendous performance in yesterday's season-opening Early Bird Invitational

The Wolves' next meet is Sunday, Jan. 21 at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
