Box Score HILTON HEAD ISLAND – Newberry fell 8-1 to the Bulldogs in their penultimate match in Hilton Head Island on Tuesday afternoon.
The Wolves have not suffered a loss since dropping 5-3 to nationally-ranked Lander on Feb. 3 and currently hold a 11-3 record.
The pair of Jordan Monosky and Edison Ambarzumjan dropped the match 8-5 at the second doubles flight to put Ferris State on the board 1-0. The Bulldogs would not relent and took the remaining two doubles matches 8-6 and 8-5 to take the 3-0 advantage.
No. 2 Jose Navarro dropped the Wolves first match in singles 2-6, 3-6 but Ambarzumjan followed it up in a three-set thriller 5-7, 6-1, 10-6 at the No. 1 position to give the Wolves their lone singles win.
Ferris State finished the day with four consecutive decisions to hand the Wolves the 8-1 loss.
The Wolves will remain in Hilton Head Island for their final match against Tiffin on Thursday, March 8.
