DUE WEST, S.C. – The Newberry College men’s tennis team swept non-conference opponent Erskine 9-0 Tuesday afternoon at the Sloan-Cox Courts.
The Wolves (13-3) won with ease in their opening doubles matches against Erskine (1-11) as Jordan Monosky and Edison Ambarzumjan cruised to an 8-3 win at No. 1.
Nikhil Mannepalli and Angel Pizzaro claimed an 8-5 victory at No. 2, while Alex Amble and Logan Adkins finished off the doubles sweep with an 8-3 win at No. 3.
Newberry also swept through singles play as Ambarzumjan (6-3, 6-4), Monosky (6-3, 6-1), Mannepalli (6-3, 3-6, 10-6), Pizarro (6-0, 6-0), Adkins (6-0, 6-0), and Austin Brinson (Default) were all victorious at No. 1 through No. 6 singles.
The Wolves also swept Erskine earlier this fall on Oct. 3.
Newberry will return to conference play Saturday when they travel to Tennessee to take on Tusculum (9-4, 4-1 SAC). The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
