GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Newberry College men's tennis team won in convincing fashion over North Greenville 8-1 on Thursday afternoon at the Vance Tennis Complex to improve to 5-2 overall.
Newberry controlled doubles play to begin the match, sweeping all three matches over North Greenville (1-3).
Jordan Monosky and Edison Ambarzumjan won No. 1 doubles by a score of 8-4.
At No. 2, Nikhil Mannepalli and Angel Pizarro won 8-2. Richard Zeh and Logan Adkins completed the sweep with an 8-1 win at No. 3.
The Wolves then won five of six singles matches over the Crusaders. Ambarzumjan was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at No. 1, Monosky won in three sets at No. 2, 6-1, 5-7, 9-7. Mannepalli battled to a three-set win, 4-6, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 3.
Logan Adkins won at No. 5 by scores of 5-7, 6-3, 7-5 and Richard Zeh concluded singles with a 6-4, 6-4 victory.
Newberry will next be in action against Limestone (0-0) on Feb. 14. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
