Sons wins twice in Wolves' 6-3 loss to Royals

CHARLOTTE - Senior David Sons picked up a pair of wins at Freedom Park on Friday as the Wolves fell 6-3 to the Queens Royals.

Sons (Lexington, S.C.) picked up a win at No. 1 doubles with senior Vinicius Botelho (Fortaleza, Brazil) over Jules Athalis and Per-Erik Soler by a score of 9-7.

The Wolves (8-9, 5-5 SAC) ran into trouble in singles play as the Royals (7-4, 3-2 SAC) earned victories in four matches.

Newberry's first singles win came from sophomore Fernando Espana (Madrid, Spain) knocked off Athalis in straight sets. Sons took down Zachary Williams in two sets at No. 5 singles.

The Wolves wrap up the SAC regular season tomorrow at 2 p.m. against the Mars Hill Lions.
