Botelho picks up singles win as Wolves fall 7-2 to Saints

GAFFNEY - Newberry junior Vinicius Botelho earned the Wolves their lone singles point on Wednesday at the Emmie Evans Rector Tennis Center as Newberry fell 7-2 to the Limestone Saints.

Newberry (7-6) picked up one point in doubles action as No. 3 pairing of freshman Fernando Espana (Madrid, Spain) and junior David Sons (Lexington, S.C.) earned an 8-4 victory over Limestone's (9-6) Austin McAlister and Benji Lascari Diaz.

Singles action was a single point affair for the Wolves as well, with Botelho (Fortaleza, Brazil) picking up Newberry's lone point. Botelho earned a victory in straight sets over Rafael Ferla at No. 2 singles.

The Wolves return to conference play on Friday with a road trip to Lincoln Memorial, before wrapping up the weekend trip to Tennessee with a Saturday morning match against Carson-Newman.
