MARS HILL, N.C. - For the second straight match, the Newberry men's tennis team fell 5-4 to a South Atlantic Conference opponent as the Mars Hill Lions upended the Wolves at the Hart Tennis Center.

Newberry was able to pick up a single point in doubles action as the pairing of sophomore David Sons (Lexington, S.C.) and freshman Carlos Nicolopulos (Valencia, Venezuela) topped their opponents 8-3 at the No. 3 position.

The Lions clinched the match by downing the top of the Newberry singles lineup, before Newberry edged out the bottom half of the Lions' lineup.

Newberry earned straight sets victories in a pair of singles matches as junior Cal Loveridge (Derby, Derbyshire, England) and Nicolopulos picked up victories at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.

The Wolves' final point came at No. 6 where Sons earned a from behind victory in three sets.

Newberry hits the courts again on Saturday when the Wolves travel to No. 29 Anderson for a match scheduled to begin at noon.
