Indians drop 7-2 decision to No. 39 Tusculum

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The Newberry College men's tennis team fell, 7-2, to No. 39 Tusculum College in South Atlantic Conference action at the Nichols Tennis Center on Saturday.

Newberry (4-7, 2-2 SAC) claimed both points in singles competition. Tusculum is now 11-3 overall and 5-0 in the SAC.

Felipe Sobrinho (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) came back from a set down and defeated Henrique Rodrigues 1-6, 7-6, 10-8 in No. 4 singles.

Lucas Mattos (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) blew by defending SAC Player of the Week Leo Guaycurus, 6-0, 6-1, in No. 5 singles. The win is Mattos' fourth straight in singles competition.

The Indians host Mars Hill College on Friday at 2 p.m. in a pivotal South Atlantic Conference matchup for both squads.
