MARS HILL, N.C. - Both of the Lions' tennis teams defeated Newberry College Friday afternoon at the Hart Tennis Complex. Both squads won 6-3. MHC's women's team is now 13-5 overall and 3-3 in the SAC while the men improved their record to 7-8 overall and 2-3 in the league.

The Indians' women's tennis team fell to 8-9 overall and 2-4 in conference play. Newberry's men's team dropped to 5-8 on the season and 1-4 in SAC play.  With the losses, the possibility of moving into the top four and hosting a first-round tournament match is eliminated for both squads.

Both of the Lions' teams will host Carson-Newman College at 2 p.m. on April 8. Newberry's tennis teams will play at Catawba College at 2 p.m. on April 12.
