NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Newberry College men’s tennis team was defeated 5-4 in a nail biting match against Tusculum College this afternoon at R. Wright Cannon Tennis Courts. At the beginning of today’s match, head coach David Staniford recognized his two graduating seniors, Oliver Elston and Toby Rawlings. “Coming into this year, both seniors have shown amazing leadership on an off the court. Their contribution to the team over their four years has been phenomenal. Oliver and Toby will be greatly missed,” stated Staniford. After graduation, both seniors will be furthering their educations by going to graduate school.
Even though the Newberry seniors won their doubles match, Tusculum was able to improve their record to 11-4 overall and 4-0 in the South Atlantic Conference. Newberry falls to 5-7 and 1-3.
