AUGUSTA, Ga. – Newberry’s men’s tennis team fell to No. 26 Augusta State Tuesday afternoon in Augusta as the Jaguars swept Newberry, 9-0. Newberry fell incredibly short of scoring in two doubles matches but were edged by the nationally ranked opponent.
Lindy Blount defeated Daryl Van Vuuren 6-3, 6-1 to take the singles top seed while the team of Harry Hahn and Frederico Mendes beat out Van Vuuren and Scott Gates for the No. 1 doubles victory, 9-7.
Newberry next hosts Spartanburg Methodist on Friday at 2 p.m.
