NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Newberry Collge men's tennis team lost Friday afternoon to #11 ranked Georgia College and State University, 8-1.  Newberry falls to a record of 2-3, while Georgia College and State moves to 4-0.

The doubles pair of Oliver Elston and Toby Rawlings put up an amazing fight against Brandon Lee and Renato Oliveira, holding out until the end.  The match ended 9-7.  Also showing great effort was Daryl Van Vuuren and Scott Gates.  They were defeated by Erick Siqueira and Rodrigo Yamauti, 8-4.

In singles action, Van Vuuren was able to give Newberry their only win when opponent Siqueira had to resign due to injury. The match ended  in a 5-1 defeat.

Next up, Newberry will travel to Francis Marion for a match on Wednesday, February 22 at 2 p.m. Georgia College and State will travel to Augusta, Ga. for a match against Augusta State on Monday, February 20 at 2:30 p.m.
