NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Newberry men’s tennis team lost its final regular season match of 2005 at the hands of Catawba College Friday afternoon by a score of 7-2. Newberry heads into the South Atlantic Conference Tournament with a 3-7 overall record, including a 1-4 record in the conference. Catawba improves to 15-6 overall, with a 3-3 record in the SAC.
Catawba won the two top flights in the doubles part of the match, only losing the #3 match to the hometown Indians. But Catawba would erase any doubt by winning five of the six singles matches en route to their third conference win of the season.
Up next for both sets of Indians is the SAC Tournament, which will begin at the home court of the higher seed on Monday, April 18th. Pairings will be announced by the conference over the weekend.
