NEWBERRY, S.C. – Newberry College women's soccer goalkeeper Maddison Gutierrez has been named to the South Atlantic Conference Preseason All-Conference Team, earning recognition as one of the league's top players heading into the 2026 season.
A cornerstone of the Wolves' defense, Gutierrez has established herself as one of the conference's premier goalkeepers. Known for her shot-stopping ability, leadership, and composure under pressure, she has consistently played a vital role in Newberry's success on the field. Her presence in goal and ability to organize the defensive unit have made her a key contributor throughout her career.
The preseason honor reflects the respect Gutierrez has garnered across the conference following a series of strong performances between the posts. A previous All-Conference selection, she continues to be recognized among the SAC's elite players and is expected to play a significant role for the Wolves in the upcoming campaign.
Fans will have their first opportunity to see Gutierrez and the Wolves at home when Newberry opens its home schedule on Wednesday, September 2, at 5:00 p.m. at the Smith Road Complex.
