NEWBERRY, S.C. – Newberry College student-athletes once again demonstrated that excellence extends well beyond the field of competition during the 2025-26 academic year, earning national recognition for their commitment to serving the surrounding community.
Among all NCAA Division II institutions, Newberry finished 16th nationally in community service hours, highlighting the department-wide dedication of Wolves student-athletes to making a positive impact both on campus and throughout the Midlands.
Several Newberry programs also ranked among the nation's leaders in community service within their respective sports.
The Wolves' men's basketball program led the way, finishing 10th overall among all Division II teams regardless of sport while ranking second nationally among Division II men's basketball programs.
Newberry also boasted eight additional teams that finished in the top 10 nationally within their sport for community service hours:
- Men's Basketball – No. 2
- Men's Volleyball – No. 2
- Men's Soccer – No. 5
- Men's Lacrosse – No. 6
- Men's Wrestling – No. 6
- Men's Tennis – No. 10
- Women's Field Hockey – No. 5
- Women's Basketball – No. 8
- Women's Volleyball – No. 10
Throughout the academic year, Newberry student-athletes participated in a wide variety of community engagement initiatives, strengthening connections with local schools, nonprofit organizations, youth programs, and community events. Their collective efforts exemplify the department's commitment to developing leaders who make an impact far beyond athletics.
The national recognition serves as another milestone in what was a memorable year for Newberry Athletics, reinforcing the department's mission of fostering success in competition, in the classroom, and in the community.
